..Adventure is out there!

Adventure, Travel..oh the possibilities!

I just got back from a short trip. While the driving CAN be grueling, I do enjoy the time for thoughts. Good thoughts. Planning, seeing the sunshine, and the sights. Fresh air! sometimes a little driving and a different place helps to put things into perspective.

Part of my love of travel has been instilled from my Mother, since I was a child. I can remember many trips that we took to events and some that the sole purpose was pleasure. Most of these trips were over weekends too.

Even now, I can’t hardly sit. I want to run at the earliest opportunity of another adventurous visit to a friend or a place I’ve not been before!

Not to say that I do not like to be home. I am a little pulled. To travel, or to build inside the community?

To everything there is a balance. However, that is this wonderful thing called life! ūüôā

Do you enjoy traveling? or Would you be the one most likely found at home?

Home or travel? I don’t think that I could choose,..could you?

Too Many Fires, Too Little Time

there are times, when we not only have too many pots, but we have too many fires. What do we do?

It’s not an easy thing to pin point what your plan is in life. First you decide what you enjoy doing right? ¬†Well,…right. But then what about your other interests? What happens to them?

Say you have so many irons in the fire. Do¬†you need them all? No? Ok, get rid of the ones that you don’t have any use for, and then decide which of ¬†the remaining irons can handle to be put on low heat for a while. Alright, next, medium heat, and so on until you come to the iron that is deserving of most of your attention. Give it all you got! Not to forget your other irons, they are useful too, but maybe they need to simmer. However this eminent one, well, it gets to fry.

You can’t possibly do everything at once. Yes you can do anything.¬†But just how well can you do everything at the same time?¬†You got that right, yeah mmmhmm..Not very well. So¬†I have officially decided that this is a really great way to prioritize my thoughts and goals.¬†

Not only do you minimize the unnecessary distractions and your mind is uncluttered, but you now have a little more time to focus on your exciting goals. And a little bit of time goes a long way.

Now on to you, what helps you to put in focus what is at hand? How did you decide what type of career or hobby suited you best?

Let me know in the comments! I’d love to hear from you!

Regards,

Lori ~

Amazing Sunburn remedy

I just arrived back home from a little vacation. And boy did I have a great time!

..However, along with the good time, I got a little extra exposure to the sun.

In my experience I have found that lavender oil is a life saver when it comes to sunburns, and coconut oil is an amazing moisturizer!

If you¬†happen to have pretty bad burn just rub the lavender oil on the affected area, sleep on it, and wake up to feeling much better! ( lavender¬†¬†oil can be strong in scent so if you’d like, dilute it with the coconut oil)

One of the things I love most about these two oils, is that they have never caused any pimples or blemishes to pop up on my skin!

have a wonderful day!

Love, Lori

Blog topics

Dear reader, I have been pondering what I really want this blog to be all about.

Yes, it has taken me forever and a day, but…

Seriously, what content is NOT already covered? And Extensively!!!

There are SO many blogs and websites that are packed with stories, research, opinions, experiences and advice, from how to blog to how to keep your baby from being constipated to lifestyle, health, fitness, design, cooking, cleaning, homesteading, farming… the list goes on.

There are So many “Mom” blogs that I couldn’t count if I wanted to. ( Not to be dissing mom bloggers, because I particularly think they are absolutely¬†Awesome!!! Which is part of the reason I have been so inspired to blog in the¬†first place.¬†I’ve noticed that though many are well put together and very interesting, they are much alike.

I have decided to take a twist from the traditional mommy-or-wife-at-home-blog. Partly because, well, I am not a mom, ( not that I don’t want to be in the future) and I am not a wife. But I truly want to log my experiences and things that I learn. I know that not very many women from the younger generation are interested in homemaking, which is why I believe this¬†angle will be quite engaging.

My blog is officially about the adventures of a 19 year old girl, whether they be in the kitchen, garden or away from home.

I really want to learn how to bake bread. like really well. Practically anyone can follow a recipe, but not every one can perfect it.

I want to can my garden veggies, and extend my knowledge in gardening in general.

I may even post crafts or a project I am working on, or simply something wonderfully inspirational.

Letting Yourself In

Sometimes, how you feel is the result of how much effort you put into something, or the lens with which you use to perceive things.

Think of each day as a fresh clean canvas that you can paint however you like.

You are worth no less than the next person, and the next person is worth no less than you.

The Core of your true self is never lost. Let go of all the pretending and the becoming you’ve done just to belong. Curl up with your rawness and come home. You don’t have to find yourself; you just have to let yourself in.” D. Antoinette Foy

That’s what is so great about life. We’re all in this together no matter what point of the path we are at in the moment.

I may already know myself pretty well, but I still might have to remind¬†me, to not be so hard on myself. After all, I’ve gotten this far..

Today is going to be a great day.

Psalm 121:1 I will lift my eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. 2 My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth.

Ps. here is a great little inspirational blog I found by Erica Layne.

My Favorite moisturizer(s)

There are two oils that I absolutely can’t live without.
1. Coconut oil, You can use it for quite a variety of things;
Of course cooking, oil pulling, moisturizer..etc..
It does not cause pimples so you can use it on your face!!! ( plus right there)
I love to use Coconut oil instead of Chap-stick. Car-mex and other lip balms contain ingredients that actually dry your lips out thus, causing you to use more and continuing the cycle.
2. Rose Hip seed Oil. is such a great moisturizer. Like Coconut oil, it does NOT cause pimples!
It is very rich in Omega 6 fatty acids. I use it to give my skin that healthy glow, and antioxidant protection.

These Oils are natural and do not contain genetically modified organisms (GMO), which is another reason why I love them so!!!

The Hazy little Burrow..

I have been planning my bedroom for what seems like ages.

I had chosen colors and than changed my mind and back again..

so my …final colors are Gray, White, Coral, Silver and, maybe some blue. That sounds like a ton however the brighter colors will mostly be accents. So with that said, it will be colorful and bright, as well as soothing.

I want it to be relaxing; a place with things that inspire me.

I have my comforter, but I haven’t painted yet!

…to be continued
