I’m Very fond of mornings

Turn over to your alarm at 6 am, and cuddle back underneath the covers?

Sounds like something I would do.
Actually, that is something I’ve done in the morning..
As much as I am a morning person I find it quite hard to sit up to the cool air when I could easily just succumb to my cozy dreams underneath the warm quilt upon my bed.
                  〈 Insert a space of time〉
So coffee in hand, out to the porch I go.
There’s nothing like sitting outside in the morning listening to birds sing with delight and the chilly air greet you briskly.
Starting out early always makes a peaceful start to the day.
I love listening and contemplating on the Lord, and His name surely deserves all praise! He always sets me straight and I’ve never planned anything successful without Him.

                                                                        ♥♥♥
Psalms 139:9-10 If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea;
Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me.
                                                                         ♥♥♥
Last drop of coffee summons thoughts of frolicking to the hammock and staring up at the moon still high in the air!
Man, it’s 8:20 in the morning and I can still view the beautiful sphere.
How lovely it is out here.
I can already tell the leaves are starting to change just at the tippy top of the trees.
If you can’t already tell, Autumn is the best season of the year!
My garden us dried up, the Vines dying and ready to pull.
Thoughts of yanking them out and planting a cool weather crop are on my mind.
What are some of your favorite Autumn vegetables to grow?
It’s a little  too late to plant those lovely pumpkins or gourds but I’m planning to plant some garlic and lettuce, and carrots, things for a nice salad in the Fall and early winter here in Arkansas..
Better get at it right? 🙂
One last lofty swing in the hammock and off to the house I go!

Lots of work to be done today.
“No fooling around” I hear a voice in my head say.
“Good bye for now, I shall be back later” I reply.
“I’m counting on it”, he chuckles.
Do you Like mornings? What contributes to a lovely day for you?

..Adventure is out there!

Adventure, Travel..oh the possibilities!

I just got back from a short trip. While the driving CAN be grueling, I do enjoy the time for thoughts. Good thoughts. Planning, seeing the sunshine, and the sights. Fresh air! sometimes a little driving and a different place helps to put things into perspective.

Part of my love of travel has been instilled from my Mother, since I was a child. I can remember many trips that we took to events and some that the sole purpose was pleasure. Most of these trips were over weekends too.

Even now, I can’t hardly sit. I want to run at the earliest opportunity of another adventurous visit to a friend or a place I’ve not been before!

Not to say that I do not like to be home. I am a little pulled. To travel, or to build inside the community?

To everything there is a balance. However, that is this wonderful thing called life! 🙂

Do you enjoy traveling? or Would you be the one most likely found at home?

Home or travel? I don’t think that I could choose,..could you?

Too Many Fires, Too Little Time

It’s not an easy thing to pin point what your plan is in life. First you decide what you enjoy doing right?  Well,…right. But then what about your other interests? What happens to them?

Say you have so many irons in the fire. Do you need them all? No? Ok, get rid of the ones that you don’t have any use for, and then decide which of  the remaining irons can handle to be put on low heat for a while. Alright, next, medium heat, and so on until you come to the iron that is deserving of most of your attention. Give it all you got! Not to forget your other irons, they are useful too, but maybe they need to simmer. However this eminent one, well, it gets to fry.

You can’t possibly do everything at once. Yes you can do anything. But just how well can you do everything at the same time? You got that right, yeah mmmhmm..Not very well. So I have officially decided that this is a really great way to prioritize my thoughts and goals.

Not only do you minimize the unnecessary distractions and your mind is uncluttered, but you now have a little more time to focus on your exciting goals. And a little bit of time goes a long way.

Now on to you, what helps you to put in focus what is at hand? How did you decide what type of career or hobby suited you best?

Let me know in the comments! I’d love to hear from you!

Regards,

Lori ~

Amazing Sunburn remedy

I just arrived back home from a little vacation. And boy did I have a great time!

..However, along with the good time, I got a little extra exposure to the sun.

In my experience I have found that lavender oil is a life saver when it comes to sunburns, and coconut oil is an amazing moisturizer!

If you happen to have pretty bad burn just rub the lavender oil on the affected area, sleep on it, and wake up to feeling much better! ( lavender  oil can be strong in scent so if you’d like, dilute it with the coconut oil)

One of the things I love most about these two oils, is that they have never caused any pimples or blemishes to pop up on my skin!

have a wonderful day!

Love, Lori

Blog topics

Dear reader, I have been pondering what I really want this blog to be all about.

Yes, it has taken me forever and a day, but…

Seriously, what content is NOT already covered? And Extensively!!!

There are SO many blogs and websites that are packed with stories, research, opinions, experiences and advice, from how to blog to how to keep your baby from being constipated to lifestyle, health, fitness, design, cooking, cleaning, homesteading, farming… the list goes on.

There are So many “Mom” blogs that I couldn’t count if I wanted to. ( Not to be dissing mom bloggers, because I particularly think they are absolutely Awesome!!! Which is part of the reason I have been so inspired to blog in the first place. I’ve noticed that though many are well put together and very interesting, they are much alike.

I have decided to take a twist from the traditional mommy-or-wife-at-home-blog. Partly because, well, I am not a mom, ( not that I don’t want to be in the future) and I am not a wife. But I truly want to log my experiences and things that I learn. I know that not very many women from the younger generation are interested in homemaking, which is why I believe this angle will be quite engaging.

My blog is officially about the adventures of a 19 year old girl, whether they be in the kitchen, garden or away from home.

I really want to learn how to bake bread. like really well. Practically anyone can follow a recipe, but not every one can perfect it.

I want to can my garden veggies, and extend my knowledge in gardening in general.

I may even post crafts or a project I am working on, or simply something wonderfully inspirational.

Letting Yourself In

Sometimes, how you feel is the result of how much effort you put into something, or the lens with which you use to perceive things.

Think of each day as a fresh clean canvas that you can paint however you like.

You are worth no less than the next person, and the next person is worth no less than you.

The Core of your true self is never lost. Let go of all the pretending and the becoming you’ve done just to belong. Curl up with your rawness and come home. You don’t have to find yourself; you just have to let yourself in.” D. Antoinette Foy

That’s what is so great about life. We’re all in this together no matter what point of the path we are at in the moment.

I may already know myself pretty well, but I still might have to remind me, to not be so hard on myself. After all, I’ve gotten this far..

Today is going to be a great day.

Psalm 121:1 I will lift my eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. 2 My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth.

Ps. here is a great little inspirational blog I found by Erica Layne.

My Favorite moisturizer(s)

There are two oils that I absolutely can’t live without.
1. Coconut oil, You can use it for quite a variety of things;
Of course cooking, oil pulling, moisturizer..etc..
It does not cause pimples so you can use it on your face!!! ( plus right there)
I love to use Coconut oil instead of Chap-stick. Car-mex and other lip balms contain ingredients that actually dry your lips out thus, causing you to use more and continuing the cycle.
2. Rose Hip seed Oil. is such a great moisturizer. Like Coconut oil, it does NOT cause pimples!
It is very rich in Omega 6 fatty acids. I use it to give my skin that healthy glow, and antioxidant protection.

These Oils are natural and do not contain genetically modified organisms (GMO), which is another reason why I love them so!!!

The Hazy little Burrow..

I have been planning my bedroom for what seems like ages.

I had chosen colors and than changed my mind and back again..

so my …final colors are Gray, White, Coral, Silver and, maybe some blue. That sounds like a ton however the brighter colors will mostly be accents. So with that said, it will be colorful and bright, as well as soothing.

I want it to be relaxing; a place with things that inspire me.

I have my comforter, but I haven’t painted yet!

…to be continued

My Plants are Home! -Herby vs. Hurby

Today I repotted some of my Oregano.

It was starting to get root bound, and I want it to grow, so that I can divide and propagate it come spring.

Mom had brought my plants here to our new place yesterday, and I opened the trunk to find this pretty little lady bug on my Oregano! I named him Herby {I couldn’t resist}

I was so surprised to find him, I guess being so late, but seeing to the odd weather, and how it is ever so changing, maybe he’s just a little confused.

However since he is already out, he’s most definitely welcome to hang around..in the garden that is.

I love my herbs. I plan on expanding my collection and experimenting in different ways of how to use and store them for the most benefits

Stay tuned!

What are your favorite plants, and what make them so special to you? Tell me in a comment!

Cleaning

The Power of Clean-Never under Estimate it!

Grit and grime underfoot is the most awful feeling ever in the entire world, okay maybe not the world.

I was cleaning today.

It is Amazing the difference a broom and mop can make.

There has been so many times that I get out of bed and procrastinated about doing much to clean the house. But over time I have learned that the sooner I get my hair in a bun, and make the bed, the better I’ll feel about meeting Mr. clean, and getting my mean on to kick out all the Dust Bunnies that owe me back-rent.

As Sarah Mueller Author of earlybirdmom.com states here, one of the greatest habbits that you can have is to finish what you have started. If at all possible do not quit until you are done. Not only will you be done, but it will feel so nice to not have to come back to it later.

This is something that I am still working on. I get so wrapped up into ten different things that in the end I don’t actually end up being that productive. It helps so much just to know what you have gotten Done! You Then can move on, Yes!!!

Now that I have cleaned the floors today, I feel so much better!!!

Time to relax.

Just kidding back to work maid, its raining and the kids are coming in!

What’s the one thing that makes your house  feel clean, even if it isn’t Perfect?

Do you have any cleaning hacks or tips you’d like to share?
